After you beat Skyla, you can go to Reversal Mountain where the TM for Shadow Ball is located. It can learn surf immediately after being caught, and I taught mine Will-o-Wisp soon after.

When I put on the exp share for my frillish, I had it evolved before Lacunosa Town for reference. In rippling water, there is a 5% chance of finding a Jellicent, which you might want because frillish has a pretty late evolution. When I used Jellicent in B2W2, I went over to route 4 to catch one (it has a 100 percent encounter rate!). You get access to the HM Surf after beating Clay and going to the PWT and competing in it. Jellicent is great from personal experience. I don't have much to say about Serperior, except to reset for a better nature. What would you recommend, and why? Who do you think would be the best team members to complement Snivy? Let me know! Those are just some random thoughts, and I'm still very much open to suggestions. I'm open to using either, though I'm hesitant to have both Jellicent and Chandelure on my team, since I'm a little particular about not double-dipping types. On the other hand, Chandelure is right up there with it given its Fire/Ghost typing, and awesome special attack and STAB Flamethrower and Shadow Ball. On one hand, I've never used Darmanitan before (Blasphemy!) and it's obviously one of the best choices of a fire type period. Depending on how early I can pick one up, it'll be a very tempting option. That being said, I've never used a Jellicent, and the Water/Ghost type sounds pretty good defensively, along with STAB Surf/Scald/Shadow Ball, and Ice Beam for coverage. I'm not sure how early into the game I can get a Frillish, but depending on which below fire type I chose, I may have to use Vaporeon, or a similar water type. Since I can't use Oshawott and Carracosta is Post-Game, I'm limited in terms of Gen 5 water types. This is a tough one, and the one slot that I may have to forget about my "Only Gen 5 Pokemon" rule. Zebstrika is more immediately useful, but physical electric types are pretty lackluster in my eyes (Even though Eelektross technically has better physical than special attack, but it can be used as a mixed attacker better than Zebstrika, and can take better advantage of those great special electric type moves.) Krookodile is also an awesome choice for a ground type, trading the defensive steel type and poison immunity for Moxie/Intimidate, and some awesome Dark type STAB.Įlectric types are always nice, and what's nicer than one that has NO WEAKNESSES? I've always been a fan of this guy, even though Tynamo is pretty much baggage until you can evolve it.

Immune to Poison and Paralysis, and a physical powerhouse with STAB EQ and some great coverage moves, there's very little wrong with this pokemon. There's not too much to say about this thing. STAB Psychic and Air Slash on a speedy special attacker is always a nice thing to see. I'm pretty fond of Swoobat, even if it's a weaker version of Sigyliph.

I'm early enough into the game to where I don't mind resetting to get a better nature, but the boosted attack from Brave will be nice since I want to run a physical one with Coil and Leaf Blade. I've been contemplating a nature for Snivy, (Yes, I know they don't particularly matter, but in this case I want to boost one of its offensive stats since they aren't great to begin with.) I have a Brave one, which is kind of cool thematically with its pokedex entries, but I'm slightly worried that the speed drop is going to hurt it, even though it's a naturally speedy mon. Since I've played Gen 5 the least so far, I'll be leaning towards only using Gen 5 Pokemon, although I'm not entirely opposed to using pre-Gen 5 if I need to.

Been wanting to play through Gen 5 again since I rarely ever play them, and was thinking about a team that would be built around my favorite Unova starter, Snivy.
